This document is a research paper published in the Galle Medical Journal in March 2018. The study aims to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding postpartum contraception among postnatal mothers. The research was conducted at Teaching Hospital Mahamodara in Galle, Sri Lanka, and involved 300 postnatal mothers. The findings reveal that the overall knowledge about postpartum contraception is inadequate among the participants. However, the majority of mothers expressed a willingness to use some form of contraception after childbirth. The most commonly used method of postpartum contraception was Combined Oral Contraceptive Pills (COCP). The study also highlights the importance of Family Health Workers as the main source of information for postnatal mothers regarding postpartum family planning.
