Covid pre op isolation – 2021
This document is a research article that presents the findings of a study on the effects of pre-operative isolation on postoperative pulmonary complications after elective surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study included over 96,000 patients from 114 countries and found that pre-operative isolation was associated with a small but clinically important increased risk of postoperative pulmonary complications. The study also found that longer periods of isolation did not reduce the risk of complications. The findings have implications for the provision of elective surgical care during the pandemic.
